North Shore Treasures: 11th Annual Collectibles & Antiques Appraisal Event, hosted by Plaza del Lago -- Sat., Sept. 13 from 10 am - 2 pm

Featuring Daniel Buck Soules and Alison Neumann.  Mr Soules is an internationally recognized Fine Art & Antiques appraiser who, for eleven years, appeared as an independent appraiser of Decorative Art & Collectibles on the PBS television show "Antiques Roadshow".
Ms. Neumann is a well-respected Chicago-area jewelry appraiser. A Graduate Gemologist, she was a content specialist for the renovated Grainger Hall of Gems Exhibition at The Field Museum of Chicago.
$10 per item suggested donation. Limit three items per person. All proceeds benefit Les Turner ALS Foundation.
In case of inclement weather, the event will be held in The Arcade.

Wilmette Arts Guild Annual Show
 
Through September, the Wilmette Arts Guild will be exhibiting more than 100 works by local artists. The Guild will be hosting a gala reception for the show on Friday, September 19, from 6:00 - 8:30 pm in the WPL Auditorium.

Birders: The Central Park Effect
Film Screening and Discussion, WPL Auditorium
Wednesday, Sept. 17, 1:00-2:30 pm and 7:00-8:30 pm
 
This film explores the extraordinary array of wild birds that grace Manhattan’s celebrated patch of green, and the equally colorful, full-of-attitude New Yorkers who schedule their lives around the rhythms of migration. Featuring spectacular wildlife footage that captures the changing seasons, this film transports the viewer to a dazzling world that goes all but unnoticed by the 38 million people who visit America’s most famous park each year. Discussion led by Go Green Wilmette.

 
Friends of the Wilmette Library Children’s Art Show
For Preschool through 8th Grade Children
Kids, show off your best painting, drawing, collage or photo. Guidelines available online at http://www.wilmettelibrary.info/kids/events/artshowbe.  Original artwork will be accepted between September 8 and September 22 at the Youth Desk.   One piece of art per participant, please.
Please mount your artwork on paper or lightweight posterboard; pushpins will be used to hang the pictures on bulletin boards.
Art will be exhibited in the Youth Department throughout October, which is Arts Awareness Month. There will be a special reception for artists and their families on Sunday, October 5, from 2:00-3:30 pm, in the Youth Program Room.

In celebration of Arts Awareness Month, the Village of Wilmette Human Relations Commission presents a Community Photography Exhibit, 'Collective Photographic Memories’ featuring 17 Wilmette photographers* at North Shore Community Bank, 1145 Wilmette Avenue, Wilmette, Wednesday, October 1 – Friday, October 31. Opening Artists’ Reception: Thursday, October 2, 5:30 – 7:30 pm. Violinist Rachel Hsu of Wilmette will perform classical music during the reception.
Bank Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm
Saturday 8:30 am – 1:00 pm
