In an effort to increase the vitality of Wilmette’s business districts the Village hired a consulting team to conduct three separate business development studies. Two of the studies focused on a particular commercial district in Wilmette. These were the 4th and Linden Plan and the Green Bay Road Corridor Study. The third study was a market analysis of Wilmette’s commercial districts.
The 4 th and Linden Plan was completed on November 30, 2004 and was discussed at three public meetings held throughout the second half of 2004. The plan includes recommendations for potential business uses, design enhancements and regulation amendments to help in revitalizing the district.
The Green Bay Road Corridor Study was completed on June 13, 2005 and was discussed at four public meetings starting with the February 23, 2005 listening session. This plan includes recommendations similar to the types included in the 4 th and Linden plan, but also includes proposed design guidelines and a more detailed traffic issues component.
The market analysis provides a detailed and objective assessment of the business climate in Wilmette. It points out opportunities as well as gives Wilmette the knowledge it needs to make informed land use decisions regarding its business environment.
