Shop Wilmette Campaign
Since 2006 the Village Board has committed significant funds towards promoting and supporting the Village’s local businesses. In 2010 this trend continued when the Village Board approved $20,000 for business promotions.
In years past, campaigns included “Shop Wilmette” advertisements in the Wilmette Life and Village newsletters, which encouraged residents to support their local businesses. The campaign has expanded to include advertising in the Chicago Tribune, on Pace buses, and on Comcast Cable.
With the Village Board’s support, this year's campiagn continues with much of the same advertising plus new street pole banners for its shopping districts. If you would like to know more about the campaign or how to join the co-op program, please contact the Village’s Business Development Planner.
Village Center Master Plan
Based on recommendations from the Urban Land Institute’s Technical Assistance Panel the Village is pursuing a Master Plan for the Village Center business district. A grant was obtained from the Regional Transit Authority that will pay for up to $100,000 for the plan.
The purpose of the master plan is to promote redevelopment that will reinvigorate our Village by generating new growth, developing new retail business and entertainments options, and addressing housing, transit, employment, and other community needs.
