Avoid Fraud
The recent “Just Hang Up” campaign was created by the Illinois Attorney General's office to educate seniors about telephone and money transfer scams. The campaign addresses the two following issues:
• The Just Hang Up piece educates consumers about the signs of fraud over the phone, and relays the message to “just hang up” on fraud.
• The Money Transfer piece explains what wire fraud looks like, with examples of letters and fake checks. This piece also includes tips to avoid becoming a victim of a money transfer scam.
