Forestry

The Village is fortunate to have an urban forest that has over 17,500 parkway trees.  The Forestry Division is responsible for maintaining all trees on public property through programs of systematic pruning, removal, planting, tree preservation, disease control and care for sick and damaged trees. 

The Village earned its 25th Tree City USA recognition and its 14th Growth Award from the National Arbor Day Foundation for 2008 and was recognized for its tree care and maintenance The Village received official announcement from the National Arbor Day Foundation regarding the awards on March 30th.


Spring 2010 Tree Planting Applications now Available!
 


Now is the time to apply for a tree through the Village Cooperative Tree Planting Program for the Spring of 2010.  If there was an ash tree removed from the parkway adjacent to your home, please click HERE for the application. If any other type of tree was removed from the parkway adjacent to your home, or if you would like to inquire about supplemental planting in the parkway, please click HERE.  Hurry, the deadline is April 2nd, 2010!

Residents are encouraged to contact the Forestry Division with any questions regarding tree planting in the parkway and locations for planting new trees in the parkway.  All public planting locations and species must be approved by the Village Foresters.
