Wilmette 's Forestry Division maintains responsibility for the care and removal of all parkway trees. While the Division attempts to repair or treat ailing parkway trees, if their removal becomes necessary, the Village will bear the entire cost. It is vital to remove hazardous or diseased trees quickly to ensure public safety and to protect healthy trees in the surrounding area. After a tree is removed, the remaining tree stump is removed below ground level and restoration of the parkway is completed by the Village.
