Another 20th century development spawned by the Arts and Crafts movement was the Craftsman style championed by Gustav Stickley. Using wood shingles, brick, stucco and fieldstone in rudimentary forms, Craftsman homes rely heavily on wall textures and feature simple, hand-crafted trimmings. These preliminary attributes are often fused with other design elements adapted from California, the New York Adirondacks, and Chicago. The term "bungalow has been used in many ways over the past century, but generally it refers to scale, not style. Bungalows were adapted from India via California, and usually present modest single-story homes designed for urban setting and small lots. The simplicity of the Craftsman style - and modest scale of the bungalow can be nearly any style, but typically is Craftsman. On Oak Circle a wonderful collection of Craftsman Bungalow dwellings built between 1912 and 1925 can be found.
