Village Recognized for Excellence in Governmental Budgeting

The Village of Wilmette is proud to announce that for 30 consecutive years, it has received a distinguished budget award demonstrating our commitment to the highest principles of governmental budgeting.

The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada recognized the Village for its 2019 Annual Budget with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.

The annual budget is the Village’s most important document as it directs spending and investments in alignment with the Village Board’s established priorities and policies. This recognition shows the Village has met the highest standards in budgeting best practices and it validates the Village’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and good governance.

In order to receive the budget award, local governments must satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation, including how the budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device.

All previous and current budget documents can be viewed on the Village’s website at

The Fiscal Year 2020 Proposed Budget is now available online. The budget was presented to the Village Board at its October 7th Village Board meeting. To view the presentation, click here.
