Holiday Lights Recycling Program begins Nov 23

Finding some duds as you’re putting up holiday lights? Instead of tossing them in the trash, bring old or broken string lights and extension cords to the Village’s Public Works facility for recycling.

Where: Wilmette Public Works, 711 Laramie Ave
When: 24-hour outside drop-off at front parking lot through Jan. 31

The recycling program will accept all holiday string lighting (all colors and lengths). Please remove any bags or packaging from the lights before depositing them in the recycling bins.

Garland, live greens, and wreathes are not accepted with this program. These items should be disposed of through the regular solid waste program.

If you have any questions regarding the Holiday Lights Recycling Program, please contact the Engineering & Public Works Department at (847) 853-7500 or pubworks@wilmette.com.
