Locust Avenue Reconstruction Project

The Village of Wilmette is pleased to inform you that the Locust Road Reconstruction Project is tentatively scheduled to begin in early 2019. The project limits are Locust Road from Wilmette Avenue to Lake Avenue. This project includes water main replacement, minor storm sewer improvements, curb and gutter replacement, full pavement reconstruction, and pedestrian/bicycle safety enhancements.

In July 2017, the Village Board awarded a contract to Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd., (Rosemont, IL) for the project’s Phase II Engineering Design Services.  Final engineering is underway and scheduled to be completed this summer.  Click here to view the Village Board Memo approving the contract with Christopher Burke.

The Village hosted an open house to update the public on this project on May 17, 2018 at Wilmette Junior High School.  Residents were encouraged to stop by to view exhibits of the proposed improvements and learn about the construction phasing. Project personnel was also available to answer questions about the project.  The presentation can be viewed here.

Please note the Village will host an additional open house in early 2019 several weeks prior to the start of construction to introduce construction personnel and present the final construction sequence and schedule.

Questions about this project can be directed to Dan Manis, P.E., Village Engineer at or (847) 853-7602 if you have any questions or should require any additional information.

More information will be coming soon! Please check back here periodically for updates.
