Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: I purchased my sticker(s) online. When and how will I receive them?
A: Stickers purchased online will be mailed to you directly. Customers typically receive their stickers within 1 week of purchase.
Q: I received my stickers in separate envelopes. Why?
A: Stickers are mailed individually to help ensure that stickers are sent to the correct household. The Village negotiated a discounted postage rate to help offset this extra expense. The additional expense of this mailing technique was taken into consideration when selecting the vendor to manage the Village’s program.
Q: The display deadline is May 15th. Will I get a ticket if I purchase my sticker online but haven’t yet received it?
A: The Wilmette Police Department enforces the May 15th purchase/display deadline with the mailing delay being taken into consideration. This way customers will have time to purchase online all the way up to May 15th. Online purchases made AFTER May 15th could result in a citation being issued if the vehicle is observed parked on a Village street without a valid sticker displayed.
Q: I sold my car and bought a new vehicle. Can I re-use my current sticker?
A: The sticker is not transferable. A replacement sticker can be obtained for $1 from the Village Hall, 1200 Wilmette Ave.
Q: I didn’t receive a renewal application in the mail for a vehicle I own. Do I still need to purchase a sticker?
A: Yes. The ordinance requires that a sticker be purchased for all vehicles currently registered to an address in Wilmette. You can provide the vehicle information (Make, Model, Year, Plate Number) at the time of purchase, either online during the regular season (March 1st through May 15th) or at any time in person at the Village Hall, 1200 Wilmette Ave. Please call 847-251-2700 for our current in-person business hours.
