The Village of Wilmette has partnered with the Center for Neighborhood Technology (CNT) on a project designed to help Wilmette residents better manage rain on their property through smart landscaping improvements. The project is funded by the Village of Wilmette and administered by CNT.
The objectives of RainReady Wilmette are to:
Complement the Village’s existing Stormwater Management Program;
Reduce burden on the sewer system through increased onsite stormwater retention and infiltration;
Raise public awareness about green infrastructure options to manage drainage issues; and
Collect data to evaluate the program.
The first year of the program will enroll up to 25 homes. The RainReady Wilmette program provides a grant to pay for 50% of the cost for eligible expenses not to exceed $1,300 per home. Residents can apply for the program online or pick up a paper application from the Engineering Department located at the Village Hall. Applications are due March 31, 2019!
While only a limited number of grants are available, applicants who aren’t selected are put on a waiting list for possible inclusion in a following year.
