The Village Sanitarian ensures that each establishment operating within the Village offers safe food to its customers. To achieve this, the Village Sanitarian performs routine inspections and educates business owners and employees on proper food handling practices and sanitation.
Any business, person or entity wishing to offer food to the public must obtain a Food Handler License from the Village. Examples of licensed establishments include, but are not limited to:
- Restaurants
- Schools
- Gas Stations
- Vending Machines
- Grocery Stores
- Mobile Vendors and Push Carts
- Temporary Food Events
Food establishments are inspected between one and four times per year, depending on the types of foods offered. Routine and complaint inspections are unannounced.
