Village-Sponsored Programs

The Village of Wilmette is proud to have a history of taking progressive action to address housing needs. The Village sponsors the Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP) to assist residents in need. To better serve our residents, we also provide information below on programs available outside the jurisdiction of the Village.

Housing Our Own Wilmette

Housing Our Own Wilmette is a not-for-profit dedicated to providing property tax, mortgage or rent assistance to qualifying households.  Click here for more information on the program.

Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP)

Accessory Living Units Handbook

Fair Housing

The Village of Wilmette prohibits discrimination in real estate transactions.  Section 8-771.(8) of the Village Code requires that notice of the fair housing ordinance be provided when real property is offered to the public for sale or lease.  Click here to open and print a brochure that complies with the Village code requirement.

Cook County Residential Tenant Landlord Ordinance

The Cook County Board unanimously passed the Cook County Residential Tenant Landlord Ordinance (RTLO) on January 28, 2021 providing guidelines and protections to renters and landlords in Cook County. Click here for more information on the ordinance.
