Skokie Boulevard and Lake Avenue Intersection Improvement


Background and Scope of Work

The general scope of work for the Skokie Boulevard and Lake Avenue Intersection Improvement project includes the following:

  • Resurfacing Lake Ave
  • Modifications to the intersection geometry
  • Pedestrian facility enhancements
  • A multi-use path on Skokie Boulevard from Lake Avenue to Illinois Road

Skokie Boulevard and Lake Avenue are under the jurisdiction of the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and Cook County, respectively. The Village will act as the project lead and manage all phases of the project. Both IDOT and Cook County have provided the Village with letters of understanding confirming their financial participation.

Public Information #2

The Village of Wilmette hosted a second public meeting for the project on May 20, 2021 at 5:00 PM. The purpose of the meeting was to present the preferred alternative to the public, present the project schedule, and to seek public input and comments.

The meeting was conducted virtually, in the interest of public health due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Registration was required, and questions were welcomed to be submitted ahead of time.  Public comments were allowed during the virtual meeting utilizing the Q&A function.
