This is SNAP’s eighth year presenting ‘The Nutcracker’ to the Wilmette and surrounding communities. This year, rather than utilizing only the traditional Tchaikovsky Nutcracker score, SNAP is introducing a bit of pop culture to the story. Pamela Sue Fox, owner and director of SNAP, is excited for the change in this year’s shows. “We have been presenting a traditional (ballet-only) Nutcracker for the past several years, but have always wanted to update it a bit, to reflect a more contemporary feel. Our Nutcracker this year will have several jazz dances, a tap dance, and even a lyrical dance, presented very tongue-in-cheek, to delight and humor audiences. There is something for everyone!”

Ellie D’Attomo of Wilmette, age 17 and a Senior dancer at SNAP, is dancing the role of Nutcracker Prince this year. D’Attomo expressed her excitement about being the Prince in a brief interview. “I think I am most excited for being Prince this year because it is such a fun role and we have so many unique and entertaining dances this year!” Having danced at SNAP for six years, five of those dancing in SNAP’s Company, she mentioned that this year is really bittersweet for her. “I’m really sad that it is my last Nutcracker, but I’m really excited for it as well because it’s all new and very different from anything we’ve ever done before.”

Come watch Ellie D’Attomo and the rest of the SNAP dancers as they share their Nutty Nutcracker with our community.
